Just few days after his birthday, Kalle Rovanpera became champion in WRC2 Pro championship. With five wins, two second and two third places, he and his codriver, Jonne Halttunen, became champions three events before finish of season.
All his rivals had troubles on 75. Wales Rally GB, so on the end, second finished Kopecky (Škoda) ahead three crews with Super Rally rule (Greensmith ahead Paddon and Ostberg). But in teams standings is not over yet, so battle will continued in Spain. Škoda Motorsport is first with 300 points, M-Sport Ford WRT second with 247 points and Citroen Total with 120 points on last third place.
In overall classification won Tanak (Toyota) ahead Neuville (Hyundai) and Ogier (Citroen). Good weekend had also Meeke, who was on the lead on first leg and finished fourth on finish line. In close battle whole weekend, first sixt drivers finished just in one minute gap.
We got champion also in JWRC section, where was close battle between Jan Solans and Tom Kristensson. Teoretical chances had also Dennis Radstrom but he made a mistake already on SS3 and ten stage wins weren’t enough and he finished third in championship standings. Unfortunately, puncture on Kristensson’s car decided championship. So with two wins this season Solans and his codriver Mauro Barreiro became first time JWRC champions.
In WRC2 section is still opened battle. Loubet (81 points) is first for now ahead Guerry (75, Kajetanowicz (73), Gryazin (73) and Bulacia (60). In Wales surprisingly won Petter Solberg (Volkswagen) and finish his proffesional career with win ahead Loubet (Škoda) and Fourmaux (Ford).
