Two crews were far ahead from other crews on first day of Lavantall Rallye. Just less than four seconds seperated crews Hermann Neubauer – Bernhard Ettel and Niki Mayr-Melnhof – Leopold Welsersheimb an all four stages today.
SS Rundkurs Kamp-Vorderlimberg (21.83 km) was the longest and SS Arlinggraben (8.91 km) was the shortest stage on this event. Mayr-Melnhof got one stage win, when Neubauer got three others, both are driving Ford Fiesta R5. But on the end of day 1 is Neubauer just 5.1 seconds ahead Mayr-Melnhof.
More than one minute behind are Wagner’s brothers: Julian on P3 ahead Simon on P4. Just 1.3 second behind Simon is Gunther Knobloch, all three drivers in Škoda Fabia R5.
On P6 overall is Kristof Klausz (Škoda Fabia R5), who is again in this season leader in Mitropa Rally Cup. Second and also eight overall is slovenian driver Rok Turk in Hyundai i20 R5.
Second slovenian driver Aleš Zrinski was learning in his new Peugeot 208 T16 and he is now on P23 and ninth in Mitropa Cup. Third slovenian driver on this event, Matjaž Zupančič, is first in class 11 and on P50 in BMW M3 E36. Rok Bodlaj, fourth slovenian driver, retired due technical failure on his Škoda Fabia 1.4.
Tommorow are on schedule eight more stages with 116.04 kilometers of total lenght.
