The nine-time world rally champions signed a two-year contract with Hyundai Motorsport. It will be first contract with non-french manufacturer. He will share car with ex teammate Dani Sordo, who signed a new contract with Hyundai for one more season.
But events in next season won’t be first ones where Loeb will be competed in non-french rally car. On start of his proffesional rally career he drove Toyota Corolla WRC on two WRC events in season 2000 – Tour de Corse (P9) and Rallye Sanremo (P10).
Loeb will be competing on sixt event in season 2019 with Hyundai i20 WRC, first one will be of course Rallye Monte-Carlo in January. Sordo’s first event will be Rally Mexico in March.
Hyundai’s best drivers from season 2019, Thierry Neuville (finished 2nd in championship standings) and Andreas Mikkelsen (finished 6th) have whole season contract. With Loeb’s comeback is under question Haddon Paddon’s future in Hyundai’s team. He finished on 8th place this season but he competed just on seven events.
Hyundai Motorsport finished season 2018 on second place in manufacturer standings so their plane is definetly clear – championship title in season 2019.
