Championship is still open after Loeb’s win in Spain

World Rally Championship is still open after RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada in last weekend where Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena in Citroen C3 WRC won after five years! They won with just 2.9 seconds ahead crew Ogier – Ingrassia in Ford Fiesta WRC.

It was close batlle, but not just overall win, also for third place. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) lost his third place right on last stage when he hit a stone and got puncture. Third place got Elfyn Evans (M-Sport), just 0.5 seconds ahead Neuville. Dani Sordo (Hyundai) finished on P5, just 1.6 seconds behind Neuville.

Bad luck had Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota), who was on lead, but got puncture right on penultimate stage. The same story was with Ott Tanak (Toyota) who changed tire on SS10 and lost his lead. But he got all five points on power stage so he is still in battle for championship title.
Other power stage points went to Ogier (4 points), Loeb (3), Evans (2) and Sordo (1).

Before last event is championship standings like this:
1. Ogier – 204 points
2. Neuville – 201
3. Tanak – 181
4. Lappi – 110
5. Latvala – 102

Not just driver’s championship, also manufacturer championship is still open:
1. Toyota – 331 points
2. Hyundai – 319
3. M-Sport – 306
4. Citroen – 216

Also in WRC3 we still don’t have champion. On last event in Australia will be in battle Enrico Brazzoli (98 points), Taisko Lario (97), Emil Bergkvist (86), Denis Radstrom (80) and Jean-Baptiste Franceschi (79),but some of them alreay drove on seven events.

Different story is with Jan Kopecky from Škoda motorsport, who became first time champion in WRC2 championship with his second place on this event. Win went into Kalle Rovanperra’s hands, third on this event finished Petter Solberg with Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.
