Nobody expected Power Stage win from Ott Tanak and Martin Jarveoja on Neste Rally Finland. They did a perfect stage driving and got five more points for championship standings, together with points from overall win. They won 12/23 stages and had just one little moment on SS8, where he lost five seconds.
It was awesome Power Stage, also due battle for second place overall between Ostberg (Citroen) and Latvala (Toyota). It was almost perfect weekend for Toyota (except Lappi’s retirement today), when Latvala took lead after his finish of stage. But Ostberg really pushed hard and was 0.3 second quickest as Latvala. So this was the best results in this season for Ostberg and we can say also for Latvala (he was third too in Monte-Carlo).
Paddon also equalized his best results in this season, finished as fourth on this event and on Rally Italia Sardegna. All three M-Sport drivers finished from P5 to P8. Suninen had to let Ogier ahead him and he finished 4.2 seconds behind Ogier. Evans finished 10.3 seconds behind Suninen.
Great battle was also in other sections. After Rovanpera lost a lot of time due broken suspension, he used pedal to the metal on today’s stages and finished just 1.9 seconds behind third place in WRC2, where finished Gus Greensmith in Ford Fiesta R5. Win in this section went to local driver Eerik Pietarinen in Škoda Fabia R5 ahead Jari Huttunen in Hyundai i20 R5.
Ken Torn managed to hold first place in WRC3 and JWRC against Emil Bergvist, who finished 9.9 seconds behind Torn. Franceschi finished on third place, all drivers were driving Ford Fiesta R2T.
How hard is this event talks also statistic. From 67 drivers on start, finished about 51 drivers (we are waiting official results), but from that ones, 17 couldn’t finished event without Super Rally rule.
