After cancelled Rally Maribor 2016, first event in Slovenian championship, Rally Velenje was the perfect start of new season.
Two days of racing, five stages on Friday, sixt more on Saturday. Šebalj was too strong on this event for other drivers, he won 7/11 stages. There was 59 crews on start, from Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Austria and also from Czech Republic. Many crews from outside were there because of Mitropa Cup, Croatian rally championship and European Rally Trophy.
On the finish of Day 1 there were Šebalj, Peljhan, Kossler, Hideg and Gassner on Top 5 places. On Day 2 Kossler climbed up on second place, but he must to retired on SS7 due technical problems on his Subaru Impreza R4. Šebalj just must to drive to the finish, because he had already one minute lead ahead Hideg.
Luckly, there wasn’t any big drama or accident, the bigest one had crew Novak – Čar on Friday, when they hit the bridge and lost the rear wheel. They also lead in Slovenian championship until crash on SS3 with their Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX. More there:
